Laser sailing summer
Take a careful look at these two laser sailors whizzing around Loughbreeze Bay. Which one is the Olympic Champion? Yes, they are our guests and they are having an incredible sail in excellent wind. Often times the name Loughbreeze seems to be a misnomer. Here on the North Shore of Lake Ontario on Loughbreeze Bay we mostly have excellent conditions for sailors but during storms we can experience substantial winds. For more information on Laser Sailing check out en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laser. Water sports, including sailing are just a portion of the great natural amenities here at Loughbreeze B&B. We have excellent cycling, a great nature trail, lake front treks and ideal rural roads to walk and explore. Artist always bring their sketch pads and easels while photographers record everything from incredible sun rises, beautiful lake colours and patterns plus awesome birds and butterflies including local deer, squirrels, fox the occasional beaver and ground hogs. Loughbreeze B&B is your perfect mini get away resort.
Come shed your stress and enjoy life here in Paradise. “Secluded privacy in the middle of everything”.
Welcome to Loughbreeze B&B and Ontario Cycling Hostel. We are looking forward to seeing you.
Lakefield College
Having a relative at Lakefield College (www.lcs.on.ca) occasionally earns people an invitation to attend an impressive school social event. With this invite you get a chance to witness all the many improvements like the new gym, with a real climbing wall, and academic building plus you can see and speak to parents and faculty. Lakefield certainly has a very impressive history and a bumper crop of talented young students from around the globe.
This year the fall celebration was held outside complete with a delightful picnic style buffet. Touring the buildings, water front and residences was an experience to be remembered. As impressive as the campus and physical facilities are you get a chance to marvel at the notable students that have preceded today’s attendee’s. Needless to say our visit to Lakefield College in Lakefield, Ontario gave us solid memories to embrace. Here at Loughbreeze B&B and Ontario Cycling Hostel we are looking forward to seeing you.

Congrats “Moore Orchards”
Congratulations to our friend’s at Moore Orchards. At this year’s Royal Winter Fair (www.royalfair.org) they won National Grower of the Year along with the award for the best Collection of apples and five other first place designations. Last year we wrote about their wonderful strawberries. On a mere 23 acres beginning in 1978 Moore Orchards Farms has been a consistent leader in their field. Lucky for us we see them at all the local fairs and sample their fruit through the summer and fall seasons. Congratulations to Heidi and Patrick Behan of Moore Orchards. We wish you every success. Here at Loughbreeze B&B we are looking forward to seeing you.
Our new Labyrinth
Hallelujah! We are building a natural Labyrinth using all native materials, mostly stones and non preserved wood from our immediate area! Helping to save the environment is a priority at Loughbreeze B&B. This project has been a dream for several years. Our research began in the 90′s, ( www.labyrinthcompany.com) ( www.lessons4living.com) ( www.labyrinth.org.uk) ( www.Dowsers.org) and now we are pushing to make it a reality. We are planning an abstract model. As we see it, our soul re-generative labyrinth built on the bank of Lake Ontario, will be free hand in design with relevance to our community and labyrinth principles with numerical significance. As you may well imagine, we are new to this endeavour and we respectfully request your input. Send us your ideas and together we will build a great labyrinth. Many thanks and remember we here at Loughbreeze B&B and Ontario Cycling Hostel are looking forward to seeing you.
THE BIG APPLE!
Colborne’s “Big Apple” (www.visitcramahe.ca) is a land mark reminiscent of Niagara Falls or The CN Tower in Toronto and in this neck of the woods folks believe it is more famous. Some local believers tell us it rivals Montreal’s Big “O” and WAWA’S huge goose. While nearly everyone agrees it is not as big as Whistler Mountain in BC they do say “IT IS BIG”. But even those people may not agree on how The Big Apple got here. We have heard rumours that it was planted by none other than Father Charles John Pandosy with America’s Johnny Appleseed and possibly assisted by Paul Bunyan and his famous Blue Ox. Even so some United Empire Loyalist insist Sir John A. MacDonald demanded The Big Apple from Canada’s National Rail Roads builder William Cornelius Van Horne, (www.thecanadianencyclopedia.com,) but it could have been the earlier Grand Trunk Railroad Organizers headed by enthusiastic British Investors. Today THE BIG APPLE is a tourism landmark at the Colborne, Ontario’s interchange #497. along Highway 401 recently re-named Highway of Hero’s possibly best known as a convenient travellers stop with great apple pies. It seems everyone knows about those great pies and the ones with cheese on the crust are the talk of every visitor. But THE BIG APPLE has a petting zoo, a mini putt golf course and a visitor observation deck at the top of the Apple. Don’t be surprised to see a dozen busses or more located in the parking lot. When you see the Big Apple you are just around the corner from great hospitality at Loughbreeze B&B and Ontario Cycling Hostel. We are waiting to see you.
