Signs of October
Across Northumberland County there are fascinating signs of October everywhere. In Port Hope, Cobourg, Grafton, Colborne, Salem and Brighton farmers have their road side stands filled with the bountiful harvest of summer. Headed just north to Hilton, Codrington and Warkworth the scene is the same. City folks are visiting their favourite areas seeking the freshest and most beautiful fruits and veggies.
It has been a great year for the harvest. In Campbellford, Hastings, Roseneath, Castleton and Centreville the story is identical. Family farms with the pride of their labours are selling the best they have to offer. You may want to visit Baltimore, Bewedley, Garden Hill and do not miss Precious Corners to visit the many craft and antique shops that dot the country side.
For sure your visit will find welcoming friends everywhere in Northumberland Hills. Here at Loughbreeze B&B and Ontario Cycling Hostel we welcome you to our Paradise too. We are Northumberland County’s premium Lake Ontario Bed & Breakfast and the only Ontario Cycling Hostel. Secluded privacy in the middle of everything. Stop in to visit.
What the grandchildren do at the B&B?
We are at Loughbreeze B&B visiting our Grandparents. They call us their “Treasures’. We love to come and visit because here we get to play with kids from all around. We swim in the lake, swing in the hammocks and we swing and do acrobatics on the swing set. I am ‘Princess’ age 7 and my sister is ‘Pretty Girl’ age 4 1/2.
We always know the time because there are quite a few old clocks in the house. They chime all the time. Poppy turns some of them off at night so it’s quieter. Last night, we listen to the frogs chirping. Lake Ontario is very beautiful. It is nice. Sometimes we walk to the sandy beach and go swimming. This summer we have been going out in the kayak with Nana and sometimes Mommy. I love to paddle . The water is warm and it is nice and shallow. Poppy makes us great Hot Chocolate and Ice Tea. He tells us he puts in some secret ingredients but I can’t tell you what they are. Poppy and Nana tell us lots of stories and we make up stories to tell them. Sometimes we play in the Bunkie. Me and my sister make up lots of games that are fun. Visiting here is great fun. Love ’Princess’ & ’Pretty Girl’
In Memory of Steve Jobs
Today, October 5, 2011, we have lost a creative genius. Steve Jobs died today and all our world is poorer for it. Steve’s committed vision to Apple has creatively impacted lives around the globe. Here at Loughbreeze his character has been a much admired inspiration. Thank you Steve Jobs. The world is a better place because of you.
